Poetry Corner

In term 3 the writing focus was poetry and the children have produced some great original work. We used a variety of different poems as models, borrowed ideas and made them our own.

The song of the polar bear

Among your vast ice kingdom
Polar bear, I saw
you protecting defending your precious cub

Among your vast ice kingdom
Polar bear, I saw you
hunting, searching for your food

Among your vast ice kingdom
Polar bear, I saw you
Swimming, gliding with flow of the water

Among your vast ice kingdom
Polar bear, I saw you
Dying
To weak to go on
I felt your sorrow

The song of the human

From your lonely house at the shore,
Human, I hear you crying
Stalking around the sandy beach
Your feet as pale as pearls
From your lonely house at the shore,
Human, I hear you grieving
Fighting for survival, stranded like a whale
From your lonely house at the shore ,
Human, I hear you singing
Singing to keep in touch with yourself
You know you’re fighting for life
From your lonely house at the shore,
Human, I hear you calling
CALL CALL protect yourself
The murderer haunts you like a ghost
By Claudia

The Song of the Tiger

Stalking through the jungle trees
Tiger ,
I see you hunting
I see you prowling around in the long crispy savannah grass

Lying in the dark of your cave
Tiger,
I see you eating
I see you munching tearing swallowing

Instead of life we chose
Meat for our tummies Fur for our coats Tiger ill save you

Sharpening your teeth like daggers
Tiger i see you
Paralyzing your pray destroying their souls
claws as strong as steels and pointy as glass
there grooming his fur there busy

Dark eyes like grapes staring out of your fiery palace
Made out of hard cold stone to protect your family

Instead of life we choose
Meat for our tummy fur for our coat tiger ill save you
by Henry

Song of the Panther

In the jungle of the night
Panther I saw you hunting.

Creeping up and down the trees
Panther I heard you calling.

Instead of life we choose...
Carpets for our houses.
Soles for our shoes.

Prowling through the jungle

Welcome to your new classroom blog.

Hi Room 30! Welcome to our class blog space for 2008.

This will be your first posting area and you will use this as a place to introduce yourselves. You have all read the class blogging rules and understand that our thoughts, ideas and information are available to be read from anywhere in our world.

So, now it is time to write a brief introduction about yourself. Include these things:

- Your first name, and your year level.
- Some family information - for example who you live with - no names please.
- You may wish to name the area you live in. For example - Mt Albert, Sandringham, Mt Eden, Balmoral.
- If you have links to other countries tell us about them. Maybe you have lived in other countries?
- Some of your interests.
- Set yourself some big goals for 2008 - they can be class related, sport related or even outside of school. What is it that you really want to achieve this year? We can look at these and time line them!

I am really looking forward to our blogging journey and can’t wait to read your comments.
